Latest Canadian market developments
Canola
Canadian canola prices continued rising in the Prairie provinces during August 2026, recording their seventh consecutive monthly increase. Strong biofuel demand and higher canola crushing volumes contributed to the trend.
Wheat
Wheat prices increased across the Prairie provinces in August, supported partly by concerns about unfavourable growing conditions in US wheat-producing regions.
Lentils
Lentil prices declined in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Increased competition from Australian lentils and surplus supply from the previous crop year contributed to downward pressure.
Cattle
Slaughter cattle prices decreased across all provinces in August compared with July, although prices remained higher year-over-year in most provinces.
